What is a zip
line (canopy) tour in Costa Rica?
Essentially a zip line (canopy)
tour is a system of zip lines (cables) attached to trees high
up in the Costa Rican rainforest that offers visitors the
exciting opportunity to observe, and appreciate tropical vegetation
from different vantage points, high above the canopy. Not
only are you observing the Costa Rican rainforest from a vantage
point high up, you are also traveling from tree to tree on
a zip line! The views are great, but the adrenaline rush comes
from zipping from tree to tree on a line is even better! Note:
our Spanish students at Coastal
Spanish rate zip line (canopy) tours as one
of the most incredible things to do in and around Playa Tamarindo,
Costa Rica.
Zip
line (canopy) tours are available in many different parts
of Costa Rica. Popular areas to go zip lining include areas
around Playa Tamarindo, Monteverde, and Manuel Antonio. While
the zip line (tours) are similar in each of these areas of
Costa Rica, the type of rainforest and the birds and animals
in each region are very different! As you are ziplining through
the rainforest in Costa Rica keep your eyes open (if possible!)
for the many different birds, monkeys, sloths or anteaters.
To give you an idea of what to expect from a zip line (canopy)
tour in Costa Rica, here is the set up used by one of the
larger ziplining (canopy) tour companies in Costa Rica.
- 3
different platforms situated high above the canopy of the
rainforest, all connected by zip lines.
- A network
of zip lines with a total length of over a mile.
- This
network of zip lines has one very special zip line which
is over 1,400 ft long and over 400 ft in the air. WOW!
- A Costa
Rican rainforest observation tower rising up over 8 stories
high!
- 2 different
bridges suspended high up in the Costa Rican rainforest
canopy. One bridge is 250 feet long and the other is just
less than 200 feet long.
- A zip
line (canopy) tour with this company will last at least
2.5 to 3 hours.
If you have ever had the desire to climb
to the top of a Costa Rican rainforest from a new perspective,
zip line (canopy) tours are a must for your trip to Costa
Rica.
